Envoy: IAEA technical meetings due in Tehran soon

Tehran, Sept 10, IRNA Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will resume their technical meeting in Tehran in the near future.

'We will hold the technical meeting in Tehran soon,' Reza Najafi told reporters after the IAEA Board of Governors meeting in Vienna on Thursday.

Asked about the IAEA's communiqu on sending questionnaires to Iran, Najafi responded that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) is studying the questionnaires.

Referring to Iran's statement ready by him during the IAEA board of governors meeting, the Iranian ambassador said, 'This statement is related to some written explanations sent by Iran to the IAEA.'

Asked about the constructions taking place in Parchin, Najafi said, 'According to a point referred to in the IAEA's report this issue is about a building that is not related to the IAEA because constructions in a military site like Parchin is something quite natural.

Najafi pointed to two points on IAEA's commitments, and said, 'One of the commitments is keeping the secret information; unfortunately in the past some parts of the secret information leaked from the IAEA.'

'Due to the activities of the spy agencies that are trying to penetrate into the IAEA, this organization should multiply its efforts protect the secret information; also the IAEA should consider Iran's security concerns in the roadmap,' the Iranian ambassador added.

The IAEA Board of Governors meeting will continue until tomorrow (Friday).
