N. official: Nuclear accord no cause of cordial ties between Iran, US

TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Ahmadian reminded Washington's hostile policies against Tehran, and underlined that the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the world powers in Vienna in mid July would not be followed by a rapprochement between Iran and the US.

"The US hostility towards Iran has no ending and they attempt to strike a blow at the Islamic Iran all the time," Ahmadian said, addressing a gathering in the Northeastern city of Mashhad on Saturday.

"We shouldnt imagine that the US has turned into Iran's friend," he added.

Iran and the world powers reached a final agreement in Vienna on July 14 to end a 13-year-old nuclear standoff.

A week later, the UNSC unanimously endorsed a draft resolution turning into international law the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) over the Islamic Republics nuclear program.

Now the US Congress and the Iranian parliament now have around 7 weeks to review the deal to approve or reject its practice.

Under the JCPOA, restrictions will be put on Irans nuclear activities in exchange for the removal of all economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic.
