Car blast in Tel Aviv coincides with anniversary of Iran’s nuke scientist assassination
A car exploded next to a bus in central Tel Aviv Thursday afternoon. Officials from the Magen David Adom rescue service said at least seven people were lightly injured in the blast; however, others reported the number of injuries as low as four. The car blast also coincides with assassination anniversary of Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan.

 
Iran unveils nuke scientist stamps in death anniversary
To honor its martyr nuclear scientist, Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, Iran put his face on its official postage stamps. On the sidelines of the first anniversary of the martyr Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, the stamp commemorating him was unveiled at the presence of his family and head of the Atomic Energy Organization.

 
Iran president must follow Leader’s ideals, official says
Iran’s next elected president must follow the “ideals” of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and avoid questioning the Islamic republic’s foundation, said a senior member of the country’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. “In the elections we must make the right pick and choose someone who won’t question the regime,” Ayatollah Khamenei’s representative to the guards, Ali Saeedi, was quoted as saying in a report today by the state-run Mehr news agency.

 
Iran denies N-watchdog hopes of access to key site
Iran on Wednesday poured water on the UN nuclear watchdog’s hopes of securing access in talks next week to a military complex where suspected past research intro atomic bomb triggers might have been carried out. Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation Freydoon Abbasi Davani said Tehran would not agree to any inspections beyond those of declared nuclear sites required by the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

 
Iranian MP blames gasoline for cancer rise among children
An Iranian Member of Parliament has warned that the gasoline produced in the country is having many adverse effects on Iranian children, giving rise to numerous forms of cancer at an early age. Mohammadreza Tabesh, the head of Parliament’s Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, told the Khaneh Mellat Website on Monday January 7: “Why aren’t people being informed that the main cause of the emergence of cancer in the country is air pollution?”

 
Australia expands sanctions against Iran
Australia has expanded sanctions against Iran amid growing concerns over the country's suspected nuclear weapons program. Foreign Minister Bob Carr said in a statement Thursday that the new sanctions affect the financial, trade, energy and transport sectors.
