Iran urges ties with S.Korea beyond trade

Tehran, June 27, IRNA - Iranian First Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in a meeting with South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yong called for promotion of bilateral ties beyond current trade exchanges.

Our relations should not focus on trade issues, he added, 'It can include regional and international developments including confronting extremism and terrorism.'

Sarmadi also told the visiting South Korean official that despite of fluctuations, there has been no dark aspect in Tehran-Seoul bilateral diplomatic relations since its inception 53 years ago.

Cho referred to expansion of terrorism and said, even countries far from center of extremism in Middle East, are not safe from its harms such as their citizens joining the Daesh terrorist group.

The South Korean official hoped success for the on-going negotiations between Iran and P5+1 group of world powers and said that Seoul has put the all-out expansion of ties with Iran on top of its agenda.
