Iran to continue supporting Syria till final victory against terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran, once again, stressed that Syria is one of the most important battlefronts of war on terrorism and extremism, reiterating its full support for Damascus to root out insurgency from the Muslim country's soil.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian told the state tv that Tehran will keep supporting the people of Syria, adding, I am proud to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran is standing by the Syrian people and did not permit Syria to turn into another Somalia or Libya.


He further hailed Syrian President Bashar al-Assads role in the countrys fight against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists, saying, Terrorism has failed in Syria and is nearing its end.


The Iranian diplomat also noted that the security of the region is intertwined with the security of Syria whose security is of significant importance for Iran and all other countries of the region.


Syrian has been engaged in foreign-backed insurgency since 2011 when militants from foreign countries flocked to Syria to topple legal government of President al-Assad.


Based on recent statistics over 210,000 people have been killed during clashes between terrorists and Syrian troops and millions have been displaced inside and outside of Syria.
