Birjand, South Khorasan Prov., Dec 25, IRNA Presidential Advisor and Secretary of Free Zones High Council (FZHC) Akbar Torkan inspected Birjand Special Economic Zone on Wednesday on the sideline of the governments inspection tour of the province.
During his inspection tour of the zone he said Birjand Special Economic Zone will become operational when at least one production unit is active and job opportunities have been created for at least five people there.
He further remarked: We will exert our utmost efforts to complete infrastructures of Birjand Special Economic Zone in order to make it ready for the attraction of domestic and foreign investment and creation of job opportunities for the youth of Birjand.
Meanwhile, Morteza Safdarizadeh, Managing Director of Birjand Special Economic Zone said the zone has been established in two parts with a span of 730 hectares 12 km from the city of Birjand on the center of Chabahar-Zahedan-Birjand-Mashhad-Sarakhs transit axis.
He said currently planning for the infrastructure and attraction of investors for participation in boosting Birjand Special Economic Zone is underway in the first part of the zone.
The official further remarked that the second part of the zone in an area of 100 hectares on Iran-Afghanistan border is being established and is equipped with border fence and inspection gate.
Safdarizadeh noted that the second part of Birjand Special Economic Zone can facilitate transport of tradesmen in both the countries with no consular formalities and Afghan nationals can enter into and depart from the province easily.
South Khorasan on Wednesday was the venue of the provincial inspection tour of the 11th government led by President Hassan Rouhani.
