Iran equips Sabalan destroyer with 12 cruise missiles

The Iran Project - Irans Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, announced that the Sabalan destroyer has been equipped with 12 anti-ship cruise missiles, setting a record for the number of guided missiles on Iranian vessels.

Talking to to Tasnim news agency on Sunday, Irani said that the missile-equipped destroyer will be unveiled soon.

The destroyer, which was previously damaged during the 1980s Iraq imposed-war, has been repaired by domestic experts.

After a few years, the 1,500-ton destroyer was repaired by domestic experts.

Additionally, Irans Sahand and Sina frigates have each been equipped with eight cruise missiles.

On Saturday, during a ceremony in commemoration of the anniversary of the Iraq-imposed war, Admiral Irani also revealed plans to unveil a new domestically designed and developed destroyer, named Deylaman, which will feature more advanced systems than previous military vessels.

Furthermore, the navy intends to establish a base in Antarctica, citing its practicality for controlling the cruise of ballistic missiles.
