The engine of a Fokker plane belonging to Iran Aseman Airlines caught fire in Mehrabad Airport here early on Monday.

The incident occurred while the passengers were on board; meanwhile, they are healthy and not injured as the firefighters were there on time to extinguish the fire.

The plane was to take off from Tehran to Bushehr, southwest Iran, but its engine caught fire.

One of the passengers told IRNA that the flight which was scheduled for 05:00 hours local time was made an hour later through an alternative one.
