Iran to equip IRGC Navy with advanced cruise missiles: Official
Irans Defense Ministry plans to equip the naval fleet of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) with cruise missiles having a range of more than 300 kilometers. The cruise missiles have different ranges and have super advanced capabilities, Director of Irans Defense Ministrys Aerospace Organization Brigadier General Mehdi Farahi said in a Sunday interview.

 
Iran to increase gas production by 100 mcm per day: Official
A senior Iranian oil industry official says the countrys gas production capacity will increase by 100 million cubic meters per day by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2014). According to plans, the countrys gas production capacity will increase by 100 million cubic meters per day by the end of the year, a large part of which will be produced in South Pars [Gas & Oil Field] phases such as [phases] 12, 15 and 16, Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ahmad Qalebani said on Saturday.

 
Irans FM spokesman resigns amid presidential bid
Irans foreign ministry spokesman has stepped down after joining the race for next months presidential election.

A report by the semiofficial Mehr news agency says Ramin Mehmanparast resigned from the post. It gave no reason, but the report late Saturday came just hours after the deadline to register for the June 14 election to succeed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

 
686 candidates register for Irans upcoming presidential election
The latest report released by Irans Interior Ministry showed a total of 686 candidates have registered for the upcoming presidential election slated for June 14.

Among the contestants from diverse walks of life, a number of prominent conservative and moderate political figures as well as incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejads independent candidate have more chances of winning the race.
