New UNSC resolution to endorse agreements on Iranian nuclear program

Agreements on Iranian nuclear program reached in Lausanne, Switzerland will be endorsed in the new UN Security Council resolution, according to a joint statement issued following the P5+1 talks with Tehran.
LAUSANNE (Sputnik) "The new UN Security Council resolution will endorse the Comprehensive Joint Plan ofAction (CJPOA) terminating all previous nuclear related resolutions and incorporate certain restrictive measures fora mutually agreed period oftime," the statement read.Earlier onThursday, US Secretary ofState John Kerry and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani both confirmed viarespective tweets that negotiators agreed parameters toresolve the issue.

The latest roundof negotiations betweenIran and the P5+1 group, comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, France and Germany, was expected toend onTuesday.

The delegations prolonged the talks towork outa framework deal, set topave the way fora comprehensive agreement that should be reached byJuly.The West, fearing that Iran could be developing nuclear weapons underthe guise ofa civilian nuclear energy program, wants Tehran tohalt uranium enrichment and decrease the number ofcentrifuges inthe country.

Tehran, inturn, wants Western sanctions imposed againstIran overits nuclear activities tobe fully lifted aspart ofthe deal withthe P5+1.
