Rostam Qassemi, the former Iranian minister of roads and urban development, passed away on Thursday due to cancer.

Qassemi, who had stepped down few months ago, passed away this morning after struggling with his advanced cancer for two months.

Qassemi was an Iran-Iraq war-veteran.

On Thurday, Majlis (the Iranian Parliament) gave a vote of confidence to Mehrdad Bazrpash as Iran's new minister of roads and urban development.
