Iran, Iraq to confer on Arbaeen MoU implementation

According to The Iranian Deputy interior Minister, Iran and Iraq are scheduled to discuss Arbaeen Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran and Baghdad.


The Deputy Minister of Security and Law Enforcement announced: "It was decided that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran will enter into negotiations with the Iraqi side, so that the Arbaeen Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran and Baghdad will be implemented tin the current year."

Consultations and negotiations between Iranian and Iraqi officials for the glorious presence of Arbaeen pilgrims continue.

Arbaeen is 40th day after martyrdom anniversary of the third Imam of the world's Shia Muslims, and his faithful companions in the desert of Karbala.

Muslims around the world march on this day to commemorate Arbaeen.

According to Iran Press, Seyed Majid Mirahmadi, Deputy Interior Minsiter said today (Monday) on the sidelines of the 88th meeting of the Arbaeen headquarters: "Today's meeting had been attended by the governors of Kermanshah, Khuzestan, Ilam and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces." He further explained that the infrastructure of these provinces is being prepared for the Arbaeen ceremony.

The Deputy interior Minister added: "These provinces are the place of entry or exit of pilgrims to Iraq."

The head of the Arbaeen headquarters referred to the situation in Iraq and the decision of the Iraqi officials on how to receive the pilgrims, and said: "We are examining the situation of the pilgrims in terms of processions in accordance with the weather conditions."

Mirahmadi also said about setting up Karbala airport and sending pilgrims through it: "If Karbala airport is ready to be used in arbaeens, it will be used, and the Islamic Republic welcomes any possibility that makes it easy to send Iranian pilgrims to the Al-Atabat Al-Aliyat"

Al-Atabat Al-Aliyat  are the shrines of six Shia Imams which are in four cities of Iraq, namely Najaf, Karbala, Kadhimiya and Samarra.
