The recent $400 million payment from the United States to Iran was part of the agreement on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, Iranian Minister of Communication Mahmoud Vaezi said.
BAKU (Sputnik) — The money transfer was made the same time five hostages were sent back to the United States which prompted speculations that the US payed a ransom to free its citizens. The suspicions were rebuffed by both Washington and Tehran on numerous occasion.
"This was part of the agreement we reached. It was part of the agreement on the nuclear program," Vaezi told RIA Novosti, confirming the payment.
