25 Jul 2016 - 9:29

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua on Sunday left his country for Tehran to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on a range of issues, including ways to boost bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.

Nasir Khan Janjua, a retired general, will discuss security issues in the region as well, according to a report by Radio Pakistan on Sunday.

A statement issued by the Pakistani Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad said that the adviser is visiting Iran at the invitation of the country’s government.

The statement said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Iran being a brotherly neighboring country.

The two neighbors, which have always enjoyed friendly ties, have worked to develop cooperation in different spheres in the past few months.

During a formal visit to Islamabad by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani back in March, high-ranking officials from Iran and Pakistan signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for cooperation in different fields of trade and commerce, insurance, culture, academy, health and medicine.
