Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said that Russian Aerospace forces do not hit targets linked to so-called "moderate" opposition in Syria.

KUALA LUMPUR (Sputnik) — Russian Aerospace forces do not hit targets linked to so-called "moderate" opposition in Syria, Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said Wednesday.

"Aviation and other means are used only against terrorist groups in Syria. No other targets, related, for example, to the so-called 'moderate' opposition are hit," Antonov said at the third ASEAN Ministerial Meeting.

On September 30, Russia began precision airstrikes on ISIL positions in Syria at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Since the beginning of military operations, the Russian air group have performed more than 1500 combat missions, hitting over 1800 terrorist targets, according to the Russia’s Defense Ministry.
