Assad’s overthrow “red line” for Iran: supreme leader’s aide
A senior aide to Iran's supreme leader warned against the overthrow of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, saying his fate was a "red line", in one of the Islamic state's strongest messages of support for the Damascus government. Iran has steadfastly backed Assad's rule since an uprising against his rule began almost two years ago and regards him as an important part of the axis of opposition against arch-foe Israel.

 
Iran parliament to probe central bank over response to rial’s fall
Iran's parliament voted 171 to 36 to investigate the country's central bank over its response to last year's currency crisis, parliamentary news agency Icana reported. Iranian media also reported on Sunday that Mahmoud Bahmani, Iran's central bank governor, had asked to leave his post, but there was no confirmation or denial from the central bank.

 
3 Iranian environmental guards die in Iran’s provinces
Two environmental guards of Golestan Department of Environment (DoE) have died drowning in the icy waters, and another one has been killed in Northern Khorasan in Iran. Reportedly, the two environmental guards, who joined the environmental forces of Golestan Province six months ago, were crashed while they were on a patrol in Kordk?y located in West Golestan Province.

 
Natural gas field discovered in northeast Iran: official
An Iranian energy official announced that Iran has recently discovered a natural gas field in northeastern country, Tehran Times daily reported on Sunday. Iran's Central Oilfields Company Managing Director, Mehdi Fakour, said that "Details of the discovery of new natural gas reserves in the region will be announced by the National Iranian Oil Company," according to the report.

 
Iran hangs two in public for machete attack: report
Iran hanged two men in public, after a video posted on YouTube last month showed them assaulting a man in a Tehran street with a machete, the ISNA news agency reported. The sentence, issued by the Revolutionary Court and confirmed by Iran's Supreme Court, was carried out in Tehran at 6:30 am (0300 GMT) on Sunday and before "a crowd of nearly three hundred people", ISNA said.

 
Netanyahu to senators: Nuclear Iran is the world’s problem
“History will not forgive those who do not stop Iran's nuclear program,” was Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s message during a meeting with top U.S. senators on Saturday evening. The delegation is led by Sen. John McCain of the Senate Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees and the 2008 Republican Presidential candidate and also includes Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Senator Christopher Coons (D-DE), and Christian Brose, a senior advisor on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
