History will not forgive those who do not stop Iran's nuclear program, was Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahus message during a meeting with top U.S. senators on Saturday evening.The delegation is led by Sen.John McCainof the Senate Armed Services andHomeland SecurityCommittees and the 2008 Republican Presidential candidate and also includes Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Senator Christopher Coons (D-DE), and Christian Brose, a senior advisor on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Building in Jerusalem is not the problem of the world. A nuclear Iran is the problem of the world, Netanyahu told the senators during the meeting, which took place in his office in Jerusalem.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, the meeting dealt with the intensification of the sanctions against Iran.
It added that the Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked the Republican and Democratic senators for the unwavering support of Israel in the Senate.
The visiting senators also met separately with President Shimon Peres, who told them, We appreciate the American position on Iran, that it cannot be permitted a nuclear weapon if possible by civilian means but that all options are on the table.
President Peres added that a bipartisan delegation from the United States sends a message that America remains engaged in the great march for freedom and peace in the region. He also addressed the ongoing bloodshed in Syria and said, I havea great dealof sorrow and worry about the ongoing bloodshed in Syria. We all wish thatthe Middle Eastwill become a region of peace which will answer the demands of the young generation.
McCain thanked Peres and told him that Israel is an island of hope and a beacon to people all over the world who see Israel as a model and as an example of democracy and freedom.
