Ottawa orders Canadian scientific journals not to publish Iranian articles
The Canadian government has reportedly ordered the scientific journals of the country not to publish articles authored by Iranian researchers and scientists. Iranian academics, who had primarily received an acceptance from the journals, have received new messages that notified them of the journals' decision not to publish their work due to recent policies adopted by the Canadian government.


 

Defense Minister: Iran to unveil new achievements in space sphere
Iran will unveil country's new achievements in the space sphere, country's Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said, IRNA reported. Vahidi said that Iran's achievements will be revealed at the upcoming country's Day of Space Technology, which will be held on February 2. Vahidi also spoke of other issues, such as the production of new UAVs, similar to the Scan Eagle drone, that Iran has recently captured.

 
Former Iranian diplomat wanted by U.S. arrives in Tehran
A former Iranian diplomat arrested in London for trying to export night-vision weapons' sights to Iran arrived back in Tehran on Tuesday after winning a six-year legal battle in Britain. A British court last month blocked the extradition of Nosratollah Tajik, wanted by the United States after agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security posed as arms dealers seeking to sell the military kit in violation of arms embargoes.



Japan to extend cuts in Iran oil imports in 2013, JX chief says
Japan will import fewer than 160,000 barrels a day of oil from Iran next year to avoid sanctions aimed at the Middle Eastern country’s nuclear program, the head of Japan’s oil industry group said. JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., the country’s biggest refiner, will cut its imports from the current contract of about 80,000 barrels a day, Kimura Yasushi, who serves as chairman for both JX and the Petroleum Association of Japan, said at a press conference today.

 
India to slash Iran oil imports in 2013/14: sources
India plans a cut of 10 percent to 15 percent in imports of Iranian oil in the next fiscal year and will buy even less if Tehran does not lower prices to compensate for bigger borrowing costs as sanctions make banks reluctant to finance oil trade, sources said on Wednesday. Iran's top Asian oil buyers -- China, India, Japan and South Korea -- have all cut imports after the United States and the European Union targeted oil sales with sanctions aimed at curbing Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
