Iraq wont allow robust relations with Tehran to be damaged

The Iran Project - Iraqi President Abdul-Latif Rashid has stressed the importance of Iraq's relationship with Iran, saying Baghdad will not allow any harm to its strong ties with Tehran.

In an interview with the Al-Hadath channel, Rashid highlighted the 1,400-kilometer border shared between Iraq and Iran and described their relations as good and robust.

He also expressed Iraq's opposition to any party using its territory to harm neighboring states, referring to a recent security agreement between Iraq and Iran to address anti-Iran groups operating from Iraq's Kurdistan region.

We are against any party using Iraqi and Kurdistan Region territories against any neighboring state. This is our clear policy, he said.

Under the agreement signed in March, Iraq committed to relocating these groups away from Iran's borders and disarming them.

The presence of Kurdish terrorist groups, such as the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Komala, has been a source of tension between Iran and Iraq, with these groups conducting attacks on Iranian soil.

The March agreement aimed to address these activities and has reportedly made significant progress in implementation.
