Iran says ready to help Pakistan in fight against terrorism

The Iran Project - Iran's Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, has expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

Baqeri sent a message to Pakistan's Chief of the Army General Asim Munir, condemning the recent terrorist bombings at two mosques in Pakistan's Balochistan province.

He expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be identified and punished with the efforts of the Pakistani armed forces and security bodies.

The commander denounced the "savage, anti-religious and anti-human" terrorist bombings at two mosques in Pakistans southwestern province of Balochistan on Friday, which killed at least 60 people and injured more than 70 others.

Baqeri also voiced disappointment over the attack, which targeted innocent people celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, from which the death toll could climb, with many people seriously injured and others having been trapped beneath the wreckage.

In a message to his Pakistani counterpart Arif Alvi on Friday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also condemned the bombings and reiterated Iran's commitment to countering extremism in all its forms.

Iran and Pakistan have been working to enhance relations and cooperate on various issues, including combating terrorism in border areas.
