Iran's Karrar drone repelled US aircrafts near Hormuz Strait

The Iran Project - The deputy Commander of Iran Army Air Defense says Iran's indigenous Karrar drone has successfully repelled multiple attempts by US Boeing P-8 Poseidon and RQ-4 aircraft, as well as other foreign jets, near the Strait of Hormuz.

Brigadier General Alireza Elhami said that the Iranian homegrown Karrar drone has repelled US's Boeing P-8 Poseidon and RQ-4 aircraft and other states' fighters several times as they approached Iran's Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian general emphasized the defense capabilities of the Karrar drone and mentioned plans to equip it with air-to-air missiles.

He also discussed the deployment of the Bavar-373 long-range air defense system and the ongoing upgrading of the system.

Additionally, he highlighted the recent achievement of installing radar on a drone, allowing for a flying radar capability.

Elhami stated that the Bavar-373 system surpasses the S-300 model in various technical and operational aspects, demonstrating its superiority in the field.

In other relevant comments, he underlined that Iranian experts at his unit have developed data acquisition and electronic warfare systems, alongside optical and combat field reconnaissance gear, that are installed on indigenous drones with various flight endurance and applications.

The general noted that Irans Air Defense Force is the first military unit among the Iranian Armed Forces to have set a service ceiling record by flying a drone at an altitude of 47,000 feet above ground level.
