The Iran Project - During a meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad on Thursday, the Iranian foreign minister reiterated Tehran's support for Syria and its commitment to fighting terrorism.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Syria on Wednesday to hold talks with the Arab countrys senior officials on the latest regional and international developments, also discussing ways to further strengthen relations between Tehran and Damascus.

Amirabdollahian stressed the need to respect Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, reaffirming that Iran continues to stand by Syria in completing its campaign against terrorism.

He also discussed the implementation of agreements between Iran and Syria, including those signed during Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Damascus.

He condemned the US and its allies for attempting to regroup terrorists in Syria and called on the US to withdraw its military forces from the country.

Additionally, Amirabdollahian criticized Israel's attacks on Syria and promised that they would not go unanswered. The meeting also covered topics such as the political process in Syria, the Astana process, relations between Syria and the Arab League, developments in Palestine, and other regional issues.

In turn, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that Irans membership in the BRICS group of fast-developing economies Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa shows that the world is changing and that both Tehran and Damascus are on the right path.
