Regional, extra-regional changes not affected Iran-Syria ties: Raisi

Iranian President in a meeting with his Syrian counterpart said that many regional and extra-regional changes have not affected the fraternal relations between the two countries.

Speaking in the joint meeting of the high-level delegations of Iran and Syria, Ebrahim Raisi expressed satisfaction with the victory of the Syrian government and nation and the country's Resistance front against terrorism and passing through difficult times. "Many regional and extra-regional changes have not affected the fraternal relations between Iran and Syria. The relations between the two countries are tied with the blood of our dear martyrs, especially the Martyr Qassem Soleimani; The name is the symbol of the stability and strength of the relations between Iran and Syria."

"The government and people of Syria went through great difficulties and problems, and despite the threats and sanctions that were imposed against the country, you were able to win a victory," he added.

Emphasizing Iran's support and assistance for Syria in achieving lasting peace, stability and tranquility, Raisi noted, "Just as the Islamic Republic stood by the Syrian government and nation in the fight against terrorism, it will stand by its Syrian brothers in development and progress period."

Assad, for his part, appreciated the positions and support of the Islamic Republic for the Syrian government and people in the difficult and critical days, saying that Syria will not forget the kindness and help of its Iranian brothers.

The President of Syria also called on Iran to play a greater role in establishing stable peace and security in his country and to have an effective presence in the reconstruction of war-torn areas.

Assad said that the relations between Syria and Iran are rich and full of experiences, adding that the two countries' relations have been stable even in difficult periods despite the severe political and security storm that hit the Middle East region.

Referring to the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries, the two presidents emphasized the importance of the "comprehensive long-term strategic cooperation program between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic" in order to secure the interests of the two nations and other nations in the region.
