Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a telephone conversation with his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis has emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes the continuation of the war in Ukraine.
During a telephone conversation on Thursday, Amirabdollahian and Cassis discussed the significant bilateral, regional, and international issues.
Referring to the good and deep-rooted ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Switzerland, Amirabdollahian expressed Iran’s readiness to hold the third round of the joint commission of the two states.
Acknowledging the Swiss government’s efforts as the Islamic Republic of Iran interests section in Saudi Arabia, the top Iranian diplomat added that Iran is ready to hold a meeting with the Saudi side to reopen the embassies of the two countries based on the agreed date.
Pointing to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled policy of preserving the territorial integrity of states, including Ukraine, Amirabdollahian highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes the continuation of the war in Ukraine and is ready to help accelerate the resolution of the crisis.
Cassis, for his part, congratulated the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, to the people and government.
He termed the Iran-Saudi agreement to restore diplomatic ties as a turning point in peace and stability in the region.
Describing the ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Switzerland as positive, he expressed his pleasure at the successful holding of a meeting of political consultations between the two states.
He hailed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance to help achieve peace in Ukraine.
