Pakistan more decisive to counter joint border threats: Cmdr

IRNA - Commander of the Border Guards of Iran said that the Pakistani government has come to the scene more decisively than ever to confront the common border threats, and expressed the hope that these relations exponentially became more coherent.

During his visit to Sistan and Baluchestan province on Sunday, Brigadier General Qassem Rezayee said, 'Today's security at borders are the result of sacrifice, devotions and the vigilance of border guards and all armed forces stationed on the borders.

He pointed to the creation of the necessary grounds for dealing with threats and natural disasters on the borders of Sistan and Baluchestan, adding that 'good efforts have been made to deal with any threats, damages and natural disasters, but some of the impassable areas of this province are not desirable'.

The Border Guards commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran said, 'Despite the precautionary measures and physical barriers that had been set up earlier this year, one of the headquarters of Mirjavehs border guard was flood-hit after which three border guards were martyred while guarding the borders of our beloved country'.

On February 22, Spokesperson of the Pakistan Army said that Iran and Pakistan have excellent cooperation at all levels to strengthen the security of joint border.

Director General (DG) of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said this while responding to a question of IRNA's Correspondent on Zahedan terrorist attack at a press conference with local and international media at army headquarters in Rawalpindi.

He said that the border issue between Pakistan and Iran has nothing to do with our border issues with Afghanistan, adding Pakistan has full faith along its borders with Iran.

Yes an incident happened we are neighboring countries, we share border, porous border, unmanned border, but we have a very good coordination with Iran, he said.

He said, Iran and Pakistan have good coordination at different levels whether it is local or between forces on Pakistan-Iran border, or between the leadership, military and civilian both.

This terrorism is a regional threat, a regional challenge and it needs a regional approach, we are in good coordination with Iran and we would ensure that such movement would not happen as third party is friend of none, viewed the general.
