IRNA – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Monday that the upcoming visit to Iraq by President Hassan Rouhani would be very significant and historic.
After an Iran-Iraq Joint Political Committee meeting, also attended by his Iraqi counterpart Nazar Khairallah, the Iranian official told IRNA that the two sides discussed planning needed preparations for the imminent visit of President Rouhani to Baghdad.
He said that Rouhani’s visit would be a turning point in promotion of relations between Iran and Iraq.
Araqchi said that today’s meeting was also focused on bilateral relations in different areas, ways to enhance ties and remove obstacles on the way of interactions.
Good agreements are expected to be reached during this visit, the official said.
