Iran’s Zarif hails important talks in Beijing

IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message welcomed the ongoing visit made by the Iranian delegation headed by Parliament speaker Ali Larijani, saying important talks were held by both sides.

‘Accompanied Speaker Larijani to Beijing for important talks with President Xi & Chinese leadership on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between our nations,’ Zarif tweeted on Wednesday.

‘Topping agenda: #Iran’s role in Belt & Road initiative as well as continued political, security & economic cooperation,’ he added.

Larijani is in China upon an official invitation by his Chinese counterpart Li Zhanshu. He was received by Iran’s Ambassador Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh and head of Iran-China friendship group, Lee Shoe Young, at Chinese Parliament at Beijing’s airport Monday night.

Some Iranian ministers and senior officials, including Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh, Finance Minister Farhad Dejpasand and Governor of Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati are accompanying Larijani during his visit.
