Taliban rejects US claims on receiving arms from Iran

IRNA – Taliban in a statement refuted claims made by the US regarding receiving weapons from Iran for performing military operations in Afghanistan.

According to Afghan news agency, Taliban spokesman Qari Mohammad Yousef Ahmadi rejected US allegations, saying they have received no arms from Iran.

Taliban has its arms from its previous battles, he said, adding that they have various arsenals in different parts of Afghanistan.

He went on to say that the US is aimed at distracting the public opinion and the international community regarding its defeat in Afghanistan war.

Earlier, Brian Hook, Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State and Special Representative for Iran showing parts of some weapons claimed that Iranian arms are being used by Taliban.

Meanwhile, Iranian diplomatic mission in Afghanistan in a statement described the US act as aiming to promote Iranophobia in Afghanistan.
