President Rouhani marks Gov’t Week in a festival

IRNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani attended Saturday the 14th Shahid Rajaei Festival in commemoration of Government Week.

President Rouhani is to deliver a speech to the festival and hail 14 exemplary state bodies.

A number of cabinet members and the Iranian officials are also present in the festival.

Government Week is commemorated in Iran in early September. It is observed in memory of former President Mohammad Ali Rajaei anf his Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar.

On August 30, 1981, a bomb explosion claimed the lives of top officials including the then president Mohammad Ali Rajaei and prime minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar.

President Rajaei’s government was only in office for 29 days.

The terrorist group Mojahedin-e Khalgh Organization (MKO) was responsible for the 1981 attack.
