Iran Assembly of Experts holds meeting in Tehran

 IRNA – The fifth round of the Assembly of Experts started its fifth meeting on Tuesday to review major domestic and international issues including the current economic problems of the country.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Jannati, chairman of the Assembly, is to address the meeting. Each of the members will have 15 minutes to discuss their views about latest developments in Iran, in the region and at the international arena.

Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani and Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, the guests of the two-day meeting, are also to brief the assembly on latest measures taken to solve existing living problems of the people.

On Wednesday, members of the Assembly will attend the late Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum to pay tribute to him, and then will meet with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The Assembly of Experts is an influential body in charge of designating and dismissing the Supreme Leader. It has 88 members and holds two meetings annually.
