Iran calls for broadening of bilateral ties with Belgium

FNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to senior Belgian officials called for the expansion of mutual cooperation between Tehran and Brussels.

“I hope that under collaboration between Iran and the Kingdom of Belgium, we will witness further development of relations between the two countries in different fields,” President Rouhani said in his message congratulating Belgian King Philippe and Prime Minister Charles Michel on the occasion of that country’s National Day on July 21.

The Iranian president, meantime, expressed the hope that the existing political and economic capacities would further contribute to the deepening of friendship and welfare of the two countries.

Belgium commemorates its National Day on July 21 to commemorate the day in 1831 in which the country’s first monarch swore allegiance to the new Belgian constitution, thus marking the start of the independent state of Belgium under a constitutional monarchy and parliament.
