3,000 reporters to cover SCO summit

IRNA - Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit media center announced that 3,000 reporters will cover the event due to be held in Qingdao City from June 9-10 .


The media center will be open on June 6.

Presidents of Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will also attend the summit, he added.

China Foreign Minister Wang Yi earlier announced that the meeting will be chaired by China president.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani plans to visit China to take part in the SCO Summit.

Rouhani's visit will take place at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, an official at presidential office said here on Monday.

During his stay in China, Parviz Esmaeili earlier said, the Iranian president will deliver a speech at the summit and hold bilateral meetings with the senior officials including the Chinese president, heads of participating delegations and heads of international organizations.

Esmaeili added that a high-ranking delegation is to accompany President Rouhani during his China visit.

Founded in 2001, SCO is an organization with eight member states and four observers including Iran.

The organization aims at taking measures to counter terrorism and extremism and promote economic cooperation.
