Kremlin: Putin trying to reduce US withdrawal consequences

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov

IRNA – Press Secretary for the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov announced that President Vladimir Putin together with European partners are trying to decrease the negative impacts of US walkaway from JCOPA and North Korea Leader visit cancellation.

Peskov made the remarks in an interview held on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

According to American media ‘CBS’, President Trump has cancelled the upcoming summit between the United States and the North Koreans in a new letter released on Thursday. Mr. Trump wrote in the letter that he was ‘very much looking forward to being there with you. Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting.’

Putin is determined to prepare the grounds for implementing Iran nuclear deal, Peskov said.

This is while; Putin in a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Thursday discussed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran.

This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of world peace and security.
