Iran's President orders to step up aid to quake-hit region

IRNA Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday ordered the local officials of the quake-hit area in the country's southwestern part to accelerate the rescue and rehabilitation process to those affected by the recent earthquake.


Iran's President Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi in a phone call with Ali-Mohammad Ahmadi, the Governor of the quake-hit Province, Kohgiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad, was briefed on the latest developments and rescue operations.

President Rouhani has ordered all related officials and organizations to use all the capacities in the country, particularly in the adjacent provinces, to meet the immediate needs of those who have been affected by the quake, he said.

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked Sisakht in Province of Kohgiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad on Wednesday.

The quake has left at least 133 people injured. It has also inflicted some damage to the buildings and structures.
