Spanish envoy: Madrid backs JCPOA

IRNA The Spanish Ambassador to Iran, Eduardo Lpez Busquets, said on Tuesday that Madrid is to fully support the Islamic Republic of Iran's commitments with regard to the sound implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Based on the reports issued by IAEA, Iran has remained committed to its pledges with regards to the JCPOA, he said.

Madrid believes that Iran has proven its commitments to JCOPA, the Spanish ambassador said, adding that for the same reason 'we try to proceed with bilateral relations'.

The Spanish foreign minister visited Iran last week and conferred with his Iranian counterpart on the expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries, Busquets said.

The JCPOA is one of the most outstanding political accords in the past ten years in the world, he said.

The European Union and Spain in particular, believe in Iran's commitment to the implementation of the JCPOA, Spain's ambassador said.

On his one-day tour to Kish Island, Busquets described the island as a significant region in terms of tourism thanks to its invaluable capacity and capabilities.

Kish Island enjoys huge potentials in terms of tourism and investment opportunities, he said.

The 35,000 tons jetty and an international airport have created suitable grounds for economic developments and investment opportunities, Busquets said.

There are lots of Spanish companies that are eyeing to do investments in Kish Free Trade Zone, he said adding that many Spanish investors have called the embassy voicing readiness to do investment in the Island.

He expressed the hope to witness expansion of bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Madrid is to assess the duly launched Barcelona to Tehran flight and in case of justification, we can establish direct flights to other tourist destinations such as Isfahan and Shiraz, the ambassador said.
As Spain's ambassador to Tehran, 'I will do my best to persuade Spanish tourists to visit tourism attractions in Kish Island,' Busquets said.

Some 1,700,000 domestic and foreign tourists visit Kish Island each year.
