Iran prepared to take countermeasures if US kills JCPOA: Int’l lawyer

IRNA – Iran is prepared to reciprocate if the US President withdraws from Iran nuclear deal otherwise known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a prominent international lawyer said.

“The so-called threat only confirms that Iran is rightly prepared to take appropriate countermeasures if Mr. Trump unduly kills the deal! The US should know that there are consequences to violation of international agreements. Can’t have your cake and eat it too!,” prominent law expert from Geneva’s Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies Reza Nasri said in a Twitter message reacting to some allegations concerning Iran as threatening by restarting nuke enrichment.

“Iran has every right to take countermeasures. Those are acts that become ‘legal’ when executed in response to the commission of an earlier illicit act by another state. No one in good faith would consider Iran’s countermeasures as ‘bad behavior’,” he added.

The US administration has done a great deal over past year to kill Iran nuclear deal.

Trump is expected to announce his decision regarding suspending sanctions against Iran and continuing the implementation of the JCPOA on May 12.

The US administration has done a great deal over past year to kill Iran nuclear deal.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has already confirmed ten times Iran’s commitment to the landmark July 2015 international deal.

This is while the European countries are trying to guarantee the implementation of Iran nuclear deal.

‘The US will renege on its commitments and unilaterally kill the Iran Deal in May; and if Iran takes any countermeasure in response, it will only prove that Iran has nuclear-weapon ambitions!’ This is the twisted narrative that John Bolton, FDD and co. will try to disseminate,” Nasri said.
