Supreme Leader underlines ineffectiveness of sanctions against Iran

FNA- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei downplayed the western states' threats of imposing new sanctions against Iran as ineffective.

"Of course, they (the enemies) will embark on harassments, including economic sanctions and propaganda, but these harassments will not stop the Iranian nation's great move," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a large number of young Iranian people in Tehran on Saturday.

He warned of enemies' attempts to make the youth weary of Islam and Islamic Revolution and pave the ground for the US control over all affairs, but meantime, said, "Now we have a generation whose faith, talent, flourishing and might is more than the first generation (after the Islamic Revolution) and this generation is more prepared than the previous generations to keep the enemies back."

"The enemy can do no damn thing against the Iranian nation, similar to the past 40 years," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Iranian officials have always underlined ineffectiveness of sanctions against the country, stressing Tehran's firm stand to continue progress in different fields.

In relevant remarks in 2015 before Tehran and the world powers signed the nuclear deal which led to lifting sanctions, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blasted the unfair sanctions imposed against the country, but meantime, underlined that they cannot force Iran to accept the world powers' unreasonable demands.

"Those who have imposed sanctions against Iran have extremely oppressed this nation," Rouhani said at the time.

"But this doesnt mean surrendering to their (the world powers') unreasonable words; rather we should move against this problem and make progress step by step," he added.
