Envoy hails JCPOA for facilitating Iran ties with global community

IRNA Romanian Ambassador to Iran Adrian Kozjacski said that facilitation in Irans economic and political relations with the global community is one of the valuable results of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In a meeting with Friday Prayer Leader of Arak, Markazi province Ayatollah Dorri-Najafabadi, he added that Iran-Romania relationship has a 115- year history, but in recent years, it has declined due to sanctions and political restrictions.

Although Romanias social ties were forged after development of political relations, the Romanian nation views Iran a friendly country, he said.

Economic exchanges between the two countries amounted to 300 million dollars in 2015 while the figure has risen to 500 million dollars over the past two years, he said.

He further noted that promoting Iran-Romania ties is the main reason behind his visit to Arak, adding that transportation, agriculture, energy and tourism are among the main areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Ayatollah Dorri-Najafabadi, for his part, said that since the two countries have had long-standing trade and political ties, certain obstacles should be removed to help further improve them.

The two countries' ties should advance from bilateral to regional level as Iran can act as Romanias representative in Middle East and Romania act as Irans representative in Eastern Europe.

The Arak Friday prayer leader called on the two countries to set a target of five billion dollars in economic exchanges and the two countries officials should make double efforts to help materialize the goal.

Security of the Middle East ensures Asian, African and European interests. Therefore, EU is expected to take stance against crimes committed by arrogant powers in the region, he said.
