Islamic Revolution revives resistance dialogue in region: Senior official

IRNA The major achievement of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran was the opening and resumption of 'resistance dialogue' in the region, a senior Iranian official said here on Saturday.

Formation of the 'thought of resistance,' which is now the key factor in the global and regional equations, is the significant impact the Islamic Revolution has had, Ali-Akbar Velaatyi, Secretary General of World Assembly of Islamic Awakening said.

Statistics show that science and technology have grown in Iran and the speed of scientific growth in the country is 11 times faster than the global average thanks to the Islamic Revolution which occurred 39 years ago, Velayati said addressing a gathering with participation of 300 foreign and domestic figures.

Referring to Iran's regional presence, Velayati said if the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution did not guide Iraq, Syria and Lebanon to resistance, the elements of the Zionist regime would have occupied Baghdad, Damascus and Beirut.

On the cause of Palestine, the official said freedom of Palestine and the Holy Quds are the top priorities of the Islamic Resistance.

Also referring to the failure of the hegemonic system in facing the thought of the Islamic Resistance, Velayati said the developments in Syria and Iraq and the defeat of the terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) have been the important conquest of the arrogant powers in their fight against the Resistance Movement in the third millennium.

Commander of Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Qasem Soleimani in a letter to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on November 21, 2017, announced the termination of the corrupt tree of Daesh and congratulated the glorious victory to the Islamic World.

Turning to the events in Lebanon in the past few months, Velayati also said the Lebanese people could vigilantly foil the Zionist-US plots hatched with the help of certain Arab states against the country.

Lebanon's Prime Minister Hariri declared his resignation during a trip to Saudi Arabia on November 4. Analysts believe that Hariri's move which made many surprised was taken under the Saudis' pressure. Now, he has gone back to his work as the Lebanese premier.

The US, Zionist regime and certain Arab rulers, today, are trying to fan the flames of ethnic and religious conflicts between the Muslims in order to weaken the Resistance Front, Velayati said.

Today, more than any other time, the Islamic Ummah is in need of unity, the former foreign minister stressed.

A seminar on exchanging ideas about the Islamic World's issues was held in the Iranian capital with participation of more than 300 scholars, figures and elites from different world countries.
