Photos: Badab Soort Springs

IFP- Badab Soort Springs in Orost village in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, are two terraced mystery springs whose waters are completely different in terms of colour, smell and taste. One of the springs with extremely saline water forms a small pool in the summer where people can swim. People suffering from back pain and rheumatism take a dip for its therapeutic effects. The other spring in the vicinity of the first one has quite sour reddish orange water. The water permanently leaks from the ground and a small amount of iron oxide has settled at the mouth of the spring. Over the centuries, the two springs have formed scores of beautiful ponds of different colours and sizes as they have flowed down the mountainside.
