IRNA – Emir of Qatar said Iran, as a neighbor, has been the only way for Qatar to provide food and medicine when the country is under sanctions by neighbors, American Commercial Broadcast Television (CBS) reported on Sunday.
‘When those countries, our brothers, blocked everything, blocked medicine, blocked food, the only way for us to provide food and medicine for our people was through Iran, CBS quoted Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani as saying.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Egypt on June 5 cut their ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism, meddling in their internal affairs and having close ties with Iran.
They also closed their borders and air spaces to the gas-producing Persian Gulf country.
Qatar has rejected the accusations and argued that the states are trying to impose their guardianship over Doha.
In the face of regional crises, Iranian government let Qatar take advantage of its airspace to conducts its most flights.
Iran, for example, by opening its airspace to Afghan, Iraqi and Ukrainian flights, at the time of crisis, prevented disruptions in regional flights.
