Iranian court to inspect Saudi embassy in Tehran

MNA After Irans Judiciary Branch demanded to inspect Saudi embassy in Iran, the KSA has given a yes response on the condition that a Saudi delegation visit the site earlier.

It has been 20 months since Saudi embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad were invaded by a group of protesters who were angry about Saudi execution of leading cleric Nimr al-Nimr. Meanwhile, a Saudi delegation is to visit its embassy before forensic tests to be conducted by Iranian judiciary bodies.

During the session of the court ruling over the case, the court called to inspect the crime scene, the embassy, but due to the international conventions which says the diplomatic buildings are owned by the guest countries, the demand was relayed to the Saudi government by Irans ministry of foreign affairs. The courts concluded in less than a month ago and ten of the convicts received imprisonment verdicts.

After a while, Saudi Arabia, as a beneficiary side of the story announced that they would let the inspectors visit the site on the condition that Saudis visit their buildings beforehand. Since then numerous occasions have been set for the visit of the Saudis but every time the visit was postponed, till yesterday that a Kuwaiti daily broke the news that the Saudi delegation will travel to Tehran after Eid al-Adha, an Islamic sacred holiday celebrated in Islamic countries on last Thursday and Friday.

Today, on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Bahram Ghassemi confirmed the news.
