President: Iran-Cuba ties deep, growing
IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said that Tehran-Havana relations were deep with an increasing trend after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In a meeting with the Cuban Vice President Ulises del Toro on Sunday, President Rouhani added that Iran and Cuba have had common ideals such as independence and freedom and they have withstood against hegemonic powers and breaching of nations rights.

Addressing the Cuban official, Rouhani said, Your visit to Tehran signifies Cubas decisive resolve to boost relations with Iran.

While certain powers are attempting to pressure freedom-seeking nations through sanctions and betrayals, solidarity and resistance of these nations are essential, Rouhani said.

For his part, Ulises del Toro, conveyed President Raul Castros congratulatory message to Rouhani, saying that his reelection, which is indicative of Irans political stability and economic and social development, made the Cuban nation and government happy.

Iran can always count on our people and governments solidarity and Havana appreciates Irans constant supports to the Cuban nation in different situation such as in times of oppressive sanctions, he said.

Independent countries unity in the international scene should further deepen, Del Toro said.
