IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the need for removing obstacles in the way of Iran-India banking cooperation in a meeting here with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Referring to Tehran-New Delhi common grounds and historic cooperation in various fields, particularly trade and energy, Zarif said he is hopeful that bilateral ties would improve in quantity and quality between the two capitals.

Meanwhile, Jaishankar said that prospects of India relations with Iran are promising.

He described as positive his meetings with senior Iranian officials, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh in particular, in the field of cooperation in the energy sector.

He also underlined mutual collaboration in the arenas of transit and North-South international corridor.
