IRNA – Presidential candidate Hassan Rouhani said sanctions will never be allowed to come back to the country.
Addressing a gathering of his supporters in Ahvaz late Tuesday, Rouhani who is campaigning for a second term, described the people of Khuzestan province as border guards of the Islamic Iran, saying that they withstood enemy’s aggression with all within their power.
Noting that his administration has always tried to defend the rights of the Iranian nation, he said, “We joined hands to lift the sanctions and we managed to do it,’ he said.
Touching on the problem of dusts faced by people in Khuzestan, Rouhani said his administration will adopt national and transnational plans to curb dusts.
“We can counter dusts only through cooperation and interaction with regional states and setting fire on embassies of other countries will solve no problem,” he said, alluding to attack on Saudi Arabia embassy and consulate in Tehran and Mashad in January 2016.
Rouhani further noted that in the absence of unity and security and correct relations with the neighbors, progress will be impossible and there is no choice except interaction and friendship with neighboring states.
The presidential candidate called for massive turnout in the upcoming election on May 19, saying that if people want problems to be solved, they should come to the polls on Friday.
Incumbent President Hassan Rouhani is running for the May 19 presidential race which currently includes four men after Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf withdrew in favor of Ebrahim Raeisi and Es’haq Jahangiri quit the race in favor of Hassan Rouhani.
