Iranian speaker’s advisor: Political talks only solution to regional crises

FNA- Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined the necessity for holding talks between the government and opposition groups in the regional countries which have been entangled in crisis.

“Political negotiation is the only solution to the regional crises which should receive serious attention by all sides that want peace and stability,” Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Jagarian on Sunday.

He also underscored the need for joint cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in regional and international issues.

Jagarian, for his part, welcomed consolidation of ties with Iran in all fields, and said, “The two countries’ good relations at different levels have led to coordination and joint action to help establish peace and stability in the Middle-East.”

In relevant remarks in 2016, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani underlined that political talks are only solution to the regional issues.

“The regional issues should be resolved by the regional countries and merely through political negotiations, dialogue and understanding,” President Rouhani said during the telephone conversation.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no effort to establish and promote such a process as everyone is needed to strive in this area,” he added.

President Rouhani pointed to the spread of extremism, violence and terrorism in the region, and said, “Unfortunately, the region is not in a favorable situation and we are all duty-bound to make efforts to save Muslims from terrorism, establish stability in the region and reinforce fraternity among Muslims.”
