SHANA- Iran is likely to recover as much as from the supergiant South Pars Gas Field as Qatar by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20, a senior Iranian energy official says.
Iran’s total natural gas output has reached 840 mcm/d from 490mcm/d in 2013.
Iran’s production of natural gas from the supergiant South Pars Gas Field, which Iran shares with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters, stands at 480 mcm/d.
The gas produced from the field will be used for LNG and petrochemical projects but because of the high sulfur content of recovered gas, it might be a costly project, he said, adding because it is a joint gas field, it development it highly importation for the NIOC.
“In case we do not reach an agreement with Indian developers, we will try other alternatives like developing the project under in an EPCF package,” he added.
