Iran asks EU, Russia, China to show reaction to US violation of N. deal

FNA- The Iranian foreign ministry blasted the US for the violation of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the world powers, urging Russia, China and other parties to the internationally-accepted agreement to save it.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Tuesday that a major part of Iran's banking problems are due to the Americans' violation of the nuclear deal and "we have strongly protested at it".

"We want other parties to the nuclear deal, specially Russia and China, to play their role and we expect them to make their efforts so that we can reach whatever has been agreed in the nuclear deal objectively," he added.

His remarks came after European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini underlined that the EU will not change its stance and obligations with regard to the nuclear agreement also known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

"The European Union will remain committed to the nuclear deal and work to ensure the proper execution of the JCPOA," Mogherini said on Monday ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

The EU foreign policy chief reiterated that the European countries will continue to work for the respect and implementation of the nuclear agreement which is extremely important.

She underlined that the bloc is committed to the accord.

Before her on the same day, Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said his country is monitoring the conditions in Washington to see if the new US administration would opt for compliance with the nuclear deal or confrontation with Tehran.

"At present, the other side (the US) has the two options of interaction or confrontation but undoubtedly, the other side cannot decide about the results and consequences of any measure," Kamalvandi said on Monday.

"Every one should come to consider this point in his/her calculations that the Islamic Republic of Iran will have reactions appropriate to the behavior and performance of the other side," he added.

Kamalvandi warned that if the path of confrontation is selected by the US, Tehran would show a reaction that would make Washington regret its deed.
