Iran, Russia to review humanitarian crisis in Syria

IRNA Russian and Iranian deputy foreign ministers will review the humanitarian crisis and the latest developments in Syria and Middle East as well as the regional and international issues in Tehran tomorrow.

Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi-Ansari will continue with regular consultations held earlier between the two countries' officials to work out a way for settlement of Syrian crisis.

Prior to his departure to Tehran, Bogdanov rejected the rumor that he will raise Russian probable use of Nojeh Air Base in Hamedan in operations in the context of international campaign against terrorism in Syria.

Tehran talks are important because despite the US and certain Arab and western states' opposition to destroy terrorists in Aleppo, the Syrian army managed to liberate 40 percent of the an-Nusra-controlled areas in the east of the city, despite cessation of aerial bombing of the terrorists in Aleppo.

Bogdanov has already held talks with Jaberi-Ansari to help promote convergence between the two countries in the fight against terrorism and diplomatic settlement of Syrian crisis as well as conflicts in Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

Meanwhile, meetings and telephone conversations between Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the Middle East have led to a sustainable ceasefire in Syria since last March and the Intra-Syria talks constitute the basis for settlement of the humanitarian crisis in Syria
