Lavan Refinery to produce Euro 4 gasoline

MNA LORC managing director said operation of an isomerization unit in the Iranian refinery has improved fuel specification of the produced gasoline from Euro 2 to Euro 4 standard.

Managing Director of Lavan Oil Refining Company (LORC) Mohammad Ali Akhbari made the announcement saying the refinery complex will be producing 2.8 million liters of Euro 4 gasoline by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ends March 20, 2017).

The required catalysts for the new unit, which were received earlier in March, have been installed and are being loaded, noted the official stressing that the unit will come on stream by the end of the year.

He went on to enumerate causes of long delays in implementation of the project including sanctions, complexity of licensed projects, purchase from anonymous Indian and Chinese companies and imports of low-standard equipment among the others.

Akhbari further commented that construction of under license units has costed 108.608 euros while costs of side services have amounted to more than 83 billion euros.

The project offers several advantages including increase in number of gasoline octane, less sulfur of gasoil and of other products, increase in production of LPG to 200 tons, that of gasoline to more than 2.8 million liters, that of gas oil to three million liters a day, that of fuel jet to one million and that of fuel oil to three million liters a day.

LORC went on to underline that light oil will be transferred to isomerite once the projects for enhancement product quality and capacity become operational.

The process aims to boost the number of octane of the feedstock supply, said the official estimating that a total of 600 to 700 thousand liters will be added to daily gasoline production capacity.
